In 2004, ABC found itself in a tailspin. NBC's Jeff Zucker smarmily said that Disney should shutdown ABC and do itself and everyone a favor. Disney CEO Michael Eisner responded by saying that all ABC needed was one big hit. During the 2004 television season it got three of them.

ABC instantly became a force to be reckoned with. NBC went into a tailspin of its own that would result in it combining itself to Universal Studios to stay afloat and Mr. Zucker' departure after his bungling of the Jay Leno situation.
